Who's there? Why, some adorable, vintage door hangers... that's who! I ended up putting together some of these as last-minute Christmas gifts/package decorations. But, if you changed them up just a little bit, they would make great winter-themed door hangers. OR... an early Valentine's Day project! Wouldn't these make for some CA-UTE Valentine's?
First, we'll start off with the snowflake on the bottom of the hanger so that it will have plenty of time to dry. Acrylic snowflakes, chipboard ones... whatever you choose, cover it liberally with adhesive and glass glitter and a gem. Then, set it aside to dry
Next, we'll move on to the main piece of the hanger. I have a large collection of vintage collage images that were perfect for this project. But, if you have old family photos (which, unfortunately, I don't)... all the better! Start by cutting out your image, and backing it with some vintage sheet music. I added some teensy-tiny little star charms above my vintage winter beauty's head...
Add the collage to the indside of a chipboard frame. Then, beautify the frame with some bling and glitter. To the top of the frame, add a pretty flower with some leaves made from patterned paper. To the top of that, add a loop of ribbon. This will be your door/ornament hanger.
Finally, we'll create the middle hanging piece using stamps, stickers, patterned paper, a tag template, and some more bling.
You'll want to reinforce the hanging holes on the middle piece with some eyelets. Then, I simply strung it all together with some waxed linen thread. Now you have a beautiful door hanger to adorn one lucky door knob in your home!
I hope you all enjoyed your holidays and are busy making your resolutions for 2010!
xo,
Holly
