Now for our fantastic Design Team interpretations:
Introducing our extremely talented December Guest Designer,
Jeannie Molle
I asked Jeannie to tell us a bit about her ---> My name is Jeannie, I live in Florida and am a mixed media artist. I utilize anything I can get my hands on to create!!
Jeannie's Arch Project: Mermaid
I've known Jeannie as an online friend basically since I started scrapbooking five years ago as we were in a circle journal group. Then we both got into digital scrapbooking on our own, and here we are both found our own way to mixed media art. When the votes came in from my design team for Challenge #4, and I went to email the winner, I recognized the email and realized the winner "Jeanne" was my old friend! She hadn't uploaded her avatar, and hadn't mentioned to me she was participating in the challenges. I have been so busy I just never put two and two together. Well, since she lives in Florida, near the ocean, I think this challenge is right up her alley, as you will see! Her take on it is so unique and utterly inspirational. Pure art.
My inspiration came from Odysseus & the sirens. So I created my mermaid holding the pearl in her "arched shrine chest" close to her heart - drawing the seamen near.
I created the arched shrine body and tail out of aluminum, then embossed it with a Ten Seconds mold and accentuated it with the alcohol inks, pearl mixative, sprinkling in glitter and allowed to dry. I created a seaweed tail-back with a ton of glitter, sequins and wire. Which I glue gunned together and put aside to dry. Then I went to the wigjig and created a wire outline of her tail. While I had the jewelry tools out I also created her pearl charm for the center of the shrine and attached it to the shrine. I attached the wire outline to the aluminum tail frame using eyelets. Then glued her glitter seaweed tail to the back of her tail. Lastly I found a gorgeous vintage lady's head, printed it on vellum and attached it to her bottlecap head. Pulling it all together - I drilled a hole in the bottlecap head. Attached the head to the arched shrine body with chain. Lastly attached the tail to the body through those eyelets with chain. Voila!
Check the forum for Jeannie's picture tutorial!

Katie T: I love Katie's project, it looks like an illustrated book come to life. Her mermaids are stunning.
My project is called Fallen Sister
I based my little shadow box on part of a poem by Federico Garcia Lorca, who was once a friend of Salvador Dali's and who also wrote this poem about him.
Tips for recreating this project: If you don't have watercolor paper, you can make something almost like it yourself!
- I simply used gel adhesive to lightly coat bristol board and placed a sheet of charcoal paper on top of it. It takes watercolor pretty well!
- Also, don't be afraid to make and use your own embellishments. aside from the brads, pearls, and fibers, I tore strips of mulberry paper to create the sky inside the shadow box, as well as the orange sun.
- I created the roses out of small strips of sketching paper which I quilled myself. To create them, simply cut a long, narrow strip of paper, coil it tightly around a toothpick, and adhere the end to keep the rose from unwrapping itself. Next, using the toothpick, push up the inner layers of paper from the bottom of the rose and ink them, then paint them with acrylic paint and "smoosh" the very middle layers together to resemble a rose. The paint will act like glue. Let everything dry and then wrap the rose in jute cord and you're good to go!

Jaz's project is titled "Jess the mermaid"
Look at all the amazing layering! I adorle Jaz's whimsical style, it is so inspiring.
Using a cover of an old photo album that comes with a window frame, I added a box to the back to make it look like a shadow box. Added
lots of embellishments to make it into ocean theme. And I have kept
this favourite photograph of my girlfriend for a long time. I'm glad I
can make her look like a mermaid here.

Finn transformed an iron into a shipwrecked boat, gorgeous work I say, but you look and decide for yourself! So dreamy!
Supply list:
Base - an old
piece of metal - a part of a polish iron in fact, taken from my
mother's house. Glimmer mists: Midnight Blue, Honey Dew, Patina.
Grungeboard swirls, Distress inks: Broken China, Peeled Paint. Gauze,
crafting glue, seashell, acrylic dew drops, paper flowers, a bit of
glitter glue, old watch, pearls and alcohol inks in shades of blue and
green. A key with a note. Shop Like a Bad Girl!
First step is to find a piece of metal in the arch shape - in my creation it was a part of an old iron, which was inked with alcohol and decorated inside with gauze, coloured with glimmerd mists. A lot of old things around you have an interesting structure or shape, so take a closer look at old machines, home supplies, dishes, pottery and furniture - the beauty is hidden everywhere! The next step was adding a sea-weed made of grungeboard swirl, decorated with flowers and glitter glue and adding the key with an inscription - "Memory" - it gave the title to the Arch :) The last part was adding the pearls and a shell - all inked a bit with alcohol inks. I simply love them - they give so may possibilities - to colour metal, plastic, acrylic, glass... You just have to try them in your creations!

You will want to break out your sewing machine after seeing Wendela's amazing work. She has mad sewing skills. Then the mussel shells add the finishing touch! Gorgeous!
Tips to make this at home: Wendela made this arch from chipboard, and added fabric with gesso,
glimmermist, alcohol ink, and crackle paint. The image, was printed
with my printer, and transferred with studio multi -medium gloss. When
all is dried, the paint gave some crackles, I made some
stitchings with my sewing machine and glued some mussel shells and
pearls.
