One of the biggest craft trends right now is decorative tapes. It is amazing all the colors and designs that tape comes in. Check out some of the projects I found on the web:
So cute and so easy! I took a couple of glass vases (purchased for a dollar at Goodwill) and a couple of candles and jazzed them up with some decorative tapes.
The great thing about this project is you can change the colors/designs easily. Think how cute a grouping of vases and candles done with red & green tape for Christmas, or black & orange at Halloween. The tapes come right off.
If you would like to play with some of these tapes, check out the shoppes!
I am always inspired by colours around me and today I fall in love with the colours, avocado & turquoise . This is a layout I did around the colour palette ;)
Inspiration is everywhere! Even now, when there's still snowing, still cold and spring is not coming:( I want to share with you today my last finding... dryed flowers and other naturals! I found a pack of those sweeties - inteded to be a house decoration - and my imagination went wild!!! Just take a look! (image from www.ikea.pl)
I opened the package... and...
And then it just happened... I took some Molding Paste, some Acrylic Paint, Glimmer Mists and a rather funny photo of my DH teaken on our holiday in Slovenia :)
As you probably guess I had great fun with creating this layout. I called it "Bacchanalia" as my intention was to make my husband look like Bacchus- Roman/Greek God of Wine;).
Of course I've go t some more great inspiration for you - here's what I found in the gallery of polish artist, Ewa Kaminska:
Hope you got some inspirationtoday - let us know what do you think about the dryed flowers creations - can't wait to read your opinions and ideas!
See you next Wednesday - and have a great, creative week!
After I shared my Coffee Filter Flower Video Tutorialwith you Bad Girls, several of you made amazingly creative projects that blew my mind. I wanted to do a blog post to honor those.
I also wanted to show you what inspired me to start making Coffee Filter Flowers (see the GIANT Coffee Filter Flowers below), and wait! take a look at "this girl with the coffee cup" as she's known at her high school, who made her prom dress out of coffee filters! I knew as soon as I saw this that you Bad Girls would appreciate it, isn't it fantastic? There's more jaw-dropping eye-candy if you read on...
Our own Leslie Cranwill created this luscious banner from my tutorial for her daughter.
I bet we all will want one now. I believe she used tissue paper as a substitute for coffee filters, you could also dye coffee filters to be pink. I love the various size flowers, and all the ribbons hanging luxuriously from the banner. Quite delightful! Next after this is another Bad Girl.............
Shop Like a Bad Girl
Next up is the creative genius of Bad Girls Member Kristi aka Alligatorally, who also involved her daughters in making these and it now hangs in their room above their bed, under a banner. They really look awesome lined up in rows and columns, with a tiny butterfly here and there. I'm so super impressed! Now you have got to see the GIANT Coffee Filters that were my ORIGINAL inspiration....
RIGHT HERE!
This photo of GIANT COFFEE Filters was what inspired me to try to figure out on my own, how to make coffee filter flowers in the first place. I thought they were one of the MOST ROMANTIC things I had ever seen, being a lover of all things SHABBY CHIC. Absolutely MARVELOUS and DELICIOUS, yes?
And then, the same day almost, I started seeing coffee filters flowers everywhere! just like as if you buy a yellow station wagon and then you see yellow station wagons everywhere.
and then Debbie aka wyscrapper, a Bad Girls member, spoke up and said, "Hey look, I've made ROSES!"
Just unbelievable - so beautiful and realistic!!!! What talent we have in our members!!!! Wow!
So you see, there is no limit to what you can make from something that you probably have been using every day already! Your only limit is your own IMAGINATION!
Come check out our Gallery, and see what new ART our members will upload next!
Oh how I love paper! The colors, the patterns, the texture. Vintage papers hold a special place in my heart. There is just something special about these old papers-they have a life of their own; a story to tell.
I enjoy looking for and collecting (okay, hoarding) ephemera. As much as I love it, more often than not, it ends up in a pile, on a shelf, or in a drawer. I want not only to use it more in my art, but to also use it in a way that I can appreciate it and see it in my daily environment. Here is a simple project that accomplished both of these goals.
This is a fun, easy, and inexpensive project. First, cover plain manila file folders with papers. I used ledger paper, sheet music, dress pattern tissue, and a book page on the outside and patterned paper on the inside. Since my paper wasn't quite large enough, I also used patterned paper along the bottom on the front. Next, grab any papers you want to use for your collage. This is a great way to use up scraps and bits that have been sitting around. I also used some old stickers and rub ons. Since I was going for a more vintage look, I used some sandpaper to distress the collage and then dry brushed with gesso.
Of course, if you are not into the "vintage" style, you can use different papers to get a completely different look. I know we all have papers, stickers, stamps, paint, rub ons, etc. to use. The hardest part is not adding too much! Honestly, I kept having to stop myself from adding "one more thing". Have fun and enjoy making your collages!
This is my favourite dress that I picked from my wardrobe ;)
Layout " ...celebrate today".
What we wear everyday is an excellent resource for color ideas. You can easily translate the combination of trendy colours with the classics onto your scrapbook layouts. Fashion designers are putting different colors , textures and paterns together .The tones and hues can inspire you too.
Now you can get onto your stash of patterned paper and cardstock and start creating.
So many little things inspire me to create something beautiful. Today I share with you just one of those many things. Cupcake liners. You can make so many great crafts with these little inexpensive paper cups. They come in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes. The opportunities are endless. Here are some lovely images to get your creativity jump started.
and of course what they are intended for...Cupcakes!
Here is what I made with a few cupcake liners for Valentines Day.
I used glimmer mist to spray on the cupcake liners.I hope this post has inspired you to create something lovely today!
I have to admit, that I'm totally addicted to black tea since I can remember.I drink it every time of day and night, usually pure, black and bitter, but sometimes I add some lemon or a bit of raspberry syroup. When I was a child I tend to drink it with sugar, but it changed of course...I love the taste of a strong, hot tea... it wakes me up every morning - and gives me loads of inspiration! So...let's talk about tea!
Here are the fragments from "Alice in Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll - Mad Tea Party :)
There was a table set out under a tree in front of the house,
and the March Hare and the Hatter were having tea at it: a
Dormouse was sitting between them, fast asleep, and the other two
were using it as a cushion, resting their elbows on it, and talking
over its head. `Very uncomfortable for the Dormouse,' thought Alice;
`only, as it's asleep, I suppose it doesn't mind.' The table was a large one, but the three were all crowded
together at one corner of it: `No room! No room!' they cried
out when they saw Alice coming. `There's plenty of room!' said
Alice indignantly, and she sat down in a large arm-chair at one
end of the table.
(...) The Hatter was the first to break the silence. `What day of
the month is it?' he said, turning to Alice: he had taken his
watch out of his pocket, and was looking at it uneasily, shaking
it every now and then, and holding it to his ear. Alice considered a little, and then said `The fourth.' `Two days wrong!' sighed the Hatter. `I told you butter
wouldn't suit the works!' he added looking angrily at the March
Hare. It was the best butter,' the March Hare meekly replied. (...) Alice had been looking over his shoulder with some curiosity.
`What a funny watch!' she remarked. `It tells the day of the
month, and doesn't tell what o'clock it is!' `Why should it?' muttered the Hatter. `Does your watch tell
you what year it is?' `Of course not,' Alice replied very readily: `but that's
because it stays the same year for such a long time together.' `Which is just the case with mine,' said the Hatter. Alice felt dreadfully puzzled. The Hatter's remark seemed to
have no sort of meaning in it, and yet it was certainly English.
`I don't quite understand you,' she said, as politely as she
could. (...) `Have you guessed the riddle yet?' the Hatter said, turning to
Alice again. `No, I give it up,' Alice replied: `what's the answer?' `I haven't the slightest idea,' said the Hatter. `Nor I,' said the March Hare. Alice sighed wearily. `I think you might do something better
with the time,' she said, `than waste it in asking riddles that
have no answers.' `If you knew Time as well as I do,' said the Hatter, `you
wouldn't talk about wasting it. It's him.'
`I don't know what you mean,' said Alice. `Of course you don't!' the Hatter said, tossing his head
contemptuously. `I dare say you never even spoke to Time!' `Perhaps not,' Alice cautiously replied: `but I know I have to
beat time when I learn music.' `Ah! that accounts for it,' said the Hatter. `He won't stand
beating. Now, if you only kept on good terms with him, he'd do
almost anything you liked with the clock. For instance, suppose
it were nine o'clock in the morning, just time to begin lessons:
you'd only have to whisper a hint to Time, and round goes the
clock in a twinkling! Half-past one, time for dinner!'(...) `Is that the way you manage?' Alice asked. The Hatter shook his head mournfully. `Not I!' he replied.
`We quarrelled last March--just before he went mad, you know--'
(pointing with his tea spoon at the March Hare,) `--it was at the
great concert given by the Queen of Hearts, and I had to sing
"Twinkle, twinkle, little bat! How I wonder what you're at!"
`Well, I'd hardly finished the first verse,' said the Hatter,
`when the Queen jumped up and bawled out, "He's murdering the
time! Off with his head!"' `How dreadfully savage!' exclaimed Alice. `And ever since that,' the Hatter went on in a mournful tone,
`he won't do a thing I ask! It's always six o'clock now.' A bright idea came into Alice's head. `Is that the reason so
many tea-things are put out here?' she asked. `Yes, that's it,' said the Hatter with a sigh: `it's always
tea-time, and we've no time to wash the things between whiles.' `Then you keep moving round, I suppose?' said Alice. `Exactly so,' said the Hatter: `as the things get used up.' `But what happens when you come to the beginning again?' Alice
ventured to ask. `Suppose we change the subject,' the March Hare interrupted,
yawning. `I'm getting tired of this. I vote the young lady
tells us a story.'
Inspired? Hope so! To express my deep love to tea I made a layout titled "Bitter Addiction". I think my smile on this photo is almost as mad as the Madhatter's ;) I used Graphic 45 papers, Glimmer Mists, Prima flowers and laces (coloured by mists), chipboards, brads and Glossy Accents by Ranger. I also added some natural objects as a dryded tea-bag as a tag, tea labels and wrapping :) The flower centers are aniseeds and cardamon which I sometimes ad to my tea during winter.
So, take a cup of tea and start creating - there's nothing better for a cold day!
And for those who liked the Disney's verson of Alice I found this - enjoy!
"The spell was broken. ...... The secret garden is always open now. Open, and awake, and alive. If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden." The Secret Garden
One of the very first novels I fell deeply in love with was The Secret Garden. A neighbor picked it up at the library for me when I was a child, stuck at home with a really bad cold. You can only imagine my delight when, as an adult, they made the story into a play, and a movie. Today, it inspires me in new ways.
HOW: For this home decor project, I took a pair of candle holders from Michael's Parisian Collection, and dressed them up,
Secret Garden Style....
Add roses in the candle holders with feather accents, and some moss around the base.
Hang a felt chandelier from the scroll.
Display small vintage photos at the base.
Wrap floral picks just below the vintage photos.
Also here is a song and video titled Secret Garden that has over 1 million views on youtube. I have this on CD, although it has nothing to do with the movie. It's just beautiful.
