Good morning Bad Girls!
Can you believe it’s already March 1st? I know much of the US is still experiencing winter, but here in Phoenix, it’s already spring. The colors, scents, and sounds are changing as the weather gets warmer and new life begins to grow. I love when the seasons change; you can feel a new energy in the air. This new energy always gets my creative juices flowing, inspiring new ideas and changes in the color pallet I want to work with. In honor of the changing season, this week I created a sign to welcome spring.
Supplies: cardboard,
crepe paper, paint, glimmer mist, patterned paper, ephemera (doilies, Braille paper,
book cover, computer punch card, playing card, label, dress pattern tissue),
chipboard letters, crystals, flowers, brads, jute
I used a piece of cardboard from a shipping box for the background, ripping to expose the texture, and then painted and sprayed with glimmer mist. After creating a fun ruffle with crepe paper, I collaged papers, an old book cover, and pieces of ephemera on the cardboard. Next, the letters were added, along with some crystals and flowers. Finally, I punched two holes and added a piece of jute to hang the sign.
I hope this inspires you to create something fun for spring. Are you inspired by the changing seasons? What effect does that have on your creativity and your artwork? Which season inspires you the most?
